Tournament Combat
Who won, what happened? Instead of playing out the combat in slow time:
Quick Contest!
Quick Contest Method
Roll between the skills involved (ie. Jousting, combat skills, combat sport/art, etc.)
This can decide an entire match, or use multiple Quick-Contests for multiple rounds.
The cost of a tournament:
- If the winning competitor fails their skill roll they take a full force hit from their opponent's best attack to a random hit location.
- This represents injury suffered during the course of the match.
- The loser also suffers these consequences, even if their skill roll succeeded.
- If a contestant critically fails roll 3 attacks in this manner.
- No defense rolls are allowed, even if the fighter won, they suffered to do so!
A winner might be victorious but suffer severe or even fatal injury!
- This could be toned down for non-lethal tournaments (perhaps fatigue, or half damage?).
