Swimming
Drowning, Armor, Encumbrance, etc.
When To Roll
Roll against Swimming once when you first enter water over your head, then again every 5 minutes.
- +3 if you entered the water intentionally.
- A penalty equal to 2x your encumbrance level
- +1 if you are Overweight, +3 if Fat, or +5 if Very Fat
On a failure you inhale water! Lose 1 FP and roll again in 5 seconds.
Repeat until you drown, are rescued, or succeed.
- If you succeed here, roll again in 1 minute.
- If you succeed again, go back to rolling every 5 minutes.
To get rid of armor, etc. you may roll against DX after your first successful Swimming roll.
- Roll against DX for each item you try to remove
- -4 for shields, helmets, or torso armor.
- A failure here means the same as failing a Swimming roll.
Once you reach 0 FP, you must make a Will roll every second or fall unconscious (and are likely to die, unless rescued). See Suffocation.
Running or Swimming FP Loss
Every 15 seconds of sprinting, or minute of paced running or swimming, requires a HT roll to avoid losing 1 FP. Encumbrance has no direct effect (other than slowing you down).
